EQUAL PARTNERSHIP

For any marriage to be successful, they must be "equally yolked" as the scriptures say. This means that they must be on the same page and have the same goals. There will always be differences and ideas and opinions, but any couple must be unified spiritually. President Eyring talked about his experience in a meeting with the First Presidency and Twelve Apostles and mentioned how no one was trying to win the argument, they were just searching for truth and confirmation from the Lord. Each one of us could be a better person if we just applied a piece of that principle into our own lives. It's human nature to try to win an argument, but if we could search for what is the most true and listen to the spirit more, our arguments would merely be discussions. This would prevent people's feelings getting hurt and saying things that you may not truly mean. And who knows the answer to a particular issue better than our Heavenly Father.
